Are you looking for perfect smile? You are not far from getting the reality, there are several ways that are used to perfect your smile, which includes; Tijuana dental veneers and many others. Created out of either porcelain, or from resin composite, a veneer is a very thin layer of material that is formed to specifically fit a tooth like a shell. It is tinted to match the color of the other teeth, then permanently affixed to the tooth so that it looks completely natural.
They are used today both cosmetically and medically, to both make someone’s teeth look nicer, and to correct dental imperfections that have the ability to increase the likelihood of dental problems over time.
Veneers are created to look as identical as possible to a tooth’s natural surface, and require the same care as all teeth do, since they can stain and chip in the same ways. Essentially, a veneer is a restored tooth surface, similar to getting a new paint job for a car – it looks nicer, and it slows and prevents decay (i.e., rust). Well cared for, dental veneers can give a patient a second chance at having healthier, more beautiful teeth.
How Are Dental Veneers in Tijuana Mexico Applied?
The process of applying porcelain or composite veneers is not much different than most other restorative dental procedures. Both methods have their good points and their bad points. Each does have a different application procedure, though:
Porcelain Veneer Application – After cleaning, the existing enamel on the tooth is etched (scaled down very slightly) in order to provide a roughened surface for the veneer to be adhered to, and allow room for it. After etching of the enamel, impressions of the tooth are taken, and a wafer-thin veneer is created in a lab to match the impression.
Before the veneer is applied it is tinted to match the color of the other teeth, then dental bonding is applied, and then the veneer on top of that. Porcelain veneers tend to look more natural and resist staining longer, but they can chip or crack, and they cost as much as double that of composite.
Composite Veneer Application – This is more like applying a thicker layer of bonding material to a tooth, rather than a separate skin being affixed over the tooth. There is a very slight etching first, and then dental bonding material is applied. The tooth is then shaped and tinted to match the other teeth.
Stain resistance is reduced with composite veneers and they sometimes might look slightly restored, but they are more durable, and can be repaired right on the tooth if they chip. They are also less expensive than porcelain.
Benefits of Dental Veneers
Regardless of the type of veneer used, the benefits for using them are numerous. Cosmetically, veneers can correct chips, severe staining, imperfectly shaped and crooked teeth, and gaps, just to name a few popular applications.
Medically speaking, veneers are also a restorative alternative for exceptionally dull or worn enamel, cracks that need protecting, poorly shaped teeth that allow tartar and bacteria under the gums, and other non-cosmetic reasons why additional protection of a tooth is necessary.
Veneers typically last between 5 and 10 years, depending on the material used and the health of the underlying teeth. Porcelain tends to last longer as long as it is cared for and the wearer understands how to protect from chipping.
